We meet you where you are — literally and financially.
Hook Jones Group is a two-person advisory practice. We work with business owners, retirees, and people navigating major financial transitions. We come to you, and we build plans around your life, not a template.
Financial planning for the way life actually works
Most financial advice starts with a questionnaire and ends with a portfolio. The more interesting work is everything in between — the tax decisions, the business transitions, the retirement income questions, the moments when your old financial plan stops fitting your life.
We're Eric Jones, CFP®, and Brianna Hook, CDFA®. Between us we bring backgrounds in engineering, small business operations, and financial planning through some of life's harder transitions.
The most satisfying work is the kind where you can see its effect on someone's life. That's why we're here.Eric Jones, CFP® · Hook Jones Group
Plans built for your specific situation
Most of our clients are business owners, people approaching or navigating retirement, or individuals working through one of those life events that brings new financial complexity with it. If you see yourself in one of these, there's a good chance we can help.
Business Owners
Running a business and building personal wealth at the same time takes a different kind of plan. We understand what it means to make financial decisions when every dollar is your own.
Retirees & Pre-Retirees
The decisions you make in the years around retirement have an outsized effect on everything that follows. We help you make them carefully and with confidence.
Suddenly Single
Divorce or the loss of a spouse changes everything financially. Brianna holds the CDFA® designation specifically to help people work through this — from the first difficult conversation to a stable plan for what's next.
Comprehensive planning, front to back
We offer a full range of financial services with particular depth in retirement income planning and tax strategies. Every engagement starts with understanding your situation, not fitting you into a model.
Two advisors. One practice. A familiar face at the other end of every call.
Eric came to financial planning after careers in engineering and a family business — backgrounds that shaped how he thinks about money: systematically, practically, and with an eye toward what's actually driving the numbers.

Brianna found her way to financial planning through a career change that turned out to be exactly the right move. She works with people whose financial picture has been upended — by divorce, the loss of a spouse, or a sudden change in circumstances — and brings a rare combination of technical knowledge and steady presence to that work.

We have offices in Elgin and Rockford, Illinois, but we don't require clients to come to us. If geography has ever been a reason to put off a financial conversation, it doesn't have to be.
Ready to talk?
No preparation needed. A first conversation is just a conversation. Tell us where you are and what you're trying to figure out, and we'll take it from there.
