It was the help and compassion we needed during a difficult transition.

Our clients both knew that their marriage was over. They agreed that they wanted to minimize the costs of divorce, while still ensuring neither party was making a costly mistake.

We were hired on as a CDFA® professional and helped them both navigate separating out their finances and assets. One of them was initially keen on keeping their home, while the other was intent on selling it. Through careful consideration and planning, it was determined that it was better for them to sell their home and split the proceeds, as neither would be able to cover their mortgage, taxes, insurance and maintenance on a single income. We valued one client's pension and showed that it was approximately the same as the other's IRA and their joint savings account.

The clients took our work product to their divorce attorney for consideration and the divorce was finalized. They both kept their respective pension and retirement funds and each received half of the house proceeds after the sale. They were able to divide their assets without needing to split apart every account which saved them time, paperwork and legal fees.

Our clients walked away confidently from their marriage knowing they were going to be financially stable over the short term and with practical strategies to achieve their individual long-term aspirations.

I didn't know how to do this without her.

Our client's wife had been chronically ill for several years, however she successfully ran the finances for their household and her self-employed business.  After she passed unexpectedly, our client didn't know where to start to begin piecing his finances back together and did not have a good grasp of all the accounts or professionals that his wife was working with.

Working with our team, we were able to work with the professionals he knew about and evaluate account statements. Through this discovery process, we were able to identify the missing pieces and worked with the different institutions to consolidate and simplify his financial life, so that he felt confident running his business by himself. We were then able to help him retitle all of his assets and establish a plan for him to live life intentionally.
